K--Fire Engine Upgrades AFCEC

The Air Force Wildland Fire Branch is seeking a contractor to transform two existing 2024 Chevrolet K5500 4x4 chassis into fully functional Type 6 Wildland Light Engine fire vehicles through the installation of specialized fire suppression equipment, including pumps, generators, hoses, hose reels, storage compartments, control panels, suppression systems, compressors, valves, and gauges. This is not a vehicle procurement effort; the government will provide the chassis, and the contractor is responsible for converting them into mission-ready wildland fire apparatus in accordance with strict technical specifications. The work must comply with all applicable federal standards, including MIL-STD-129 and MIL-STD-130 for marking and identification, and the completed vehicles must feature a certified vehicle sticker/label on the driver’s side cab that complies with the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act and Title 49 of the Federal Code of Regulations, incorporating the DOI Agency Order number. The contract structure includes a base year and up to two option years, with delivery of each vehicle required 180 to 270 days after order placement, and final acceptance occurring F.O.B. origin at the contractor’s facility. The contractor must provide comprehensive documentation including as-built wiring diagrams, certified weight slips, chassis build sheets, final bills of materials, and contact information for equipment suppliers and service centers. The procurement is conducted as a Firm-Fixed-Price contract under NAICS code 336211 and is restricted to small business contractors through a small business set-aside. Proposals must be submitted via email by the deadline of May 28, 2026, in three distinct volumes: technical general, technical narrative (maximum ten single-spaced pages), and price (submitted separately using Microsoft Excel).
