Iowa Industry to Classroom Academy CTE Teacher Mentoring Grant Program
Solicitation # 685608
The Iowa Industry to Classroom Academy is a pilot mentoring program launched by the Iowa Department of Education to recruit and retain career and technical education teachers transitioning directly from industry. The program pairs new or emerging CTE teachers, who possess specialized industry skills but lack formal pedagogical training, with experienced mentors for two years. The program is built upon four pillars: educator retention, instructional excellence, educator well-being, and continuous reflective practice. Over the two-year cycle spanning 2026 to 2028, mentees must complete six core pedagogy areas, including human relations, CTE teaching methods, and curriculum development. Financial support includes a 1,000 dollar total tuition and fee reimbursement for mentees and a 4,000 dollar total stipend for mentors. Additional reimbursements are available for travel, meals, lodging, and substitute pay. Participants are required to engage in monthly meetings, classroom observations, and a capstone project, while maintaining strict confidentiality regarding program interactions.
