The Fleet and Industrial Supply Center San Diego plans to issue a sole-source purchase order to ViaSat, Inc. for a UHF DAMA SATCOM modem, specifically one MD-132A (c)U with Mounting Tray and one ViaSat Network Terminal Controller Software. These items are intended to support the ongoing installation of the Tomahawk Strikeover Network (TSN) at the SLAMEX facility, which is critical for current training requirements. Due to the unique design and compatibility needs of the modem and its mounting shelf, no alternative third-party products are suitable, justifying the sole-source procurement under FAR 6.302-1. This acquisition follows commercial contracting procedures as outlined in FAR Parts 12 and 13.5. The government's intent is to negotiate directly with ViaSat as the only available source meeting the Tactical Training Group Pacific's strict standardization program. Although this notice acts as a Request for Quotations with a closing date of June 8, 2009, it is not a solicitation for competitive bids, and any proposals received will be considered at the government’s discretion. Interested parties may express interest and be advised on future opportunities, but the sole-source determination remains the government’s decision. The primary contact for this procurement is Charles Fletcher II, reachable by phone, fax, or email for any inquiries.
