The California State University, Northridge is seeking Statements of Qualifications from qualified construction managers to oversee the preconstruction and construction phases of a major project involving the demolition and replacement of the University Student Union (USU) Northridge Center, which spans approximately 80,000 gross square feet. The project also includes 12 to 14 phased renovations aimed at reorganizing various departments within the USU, ranging from 1,500 to 10,000 square feet, as well as upgrades or replacements of the USU Central Plant. The selection process involves a two-step approach: initially, interested firms submit SOQs for consideration, which are reviewed by a technical committee that will shortlist up to five firms to receive detailed RFPs. The final selection will be based on the firms’ qualifications and proposed fees, with no design competition involved. The construction management approach is a Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) delivery method, comprising two distinct phases—design/preconstruction and construction—with separate contracts issued for each. A licensed architect will be engaged under a separate contract to handle all design services. The project aims to modernize and improve the USU facilities, ensuring efficient phased construction while maintaining campus operations. The solicitation was posted on July 29, 2019, with responses due by August 29, 2019. Interested parties can contact Brian Berry via email or phone for further information.
