The U.S. Coast Guard is evaluating whether to set aside a procurement for the USCGC VENTUROUS (WMEC-625), a Medium Endurance Cutter homeported in St. Petersburg, Florida, for HUBZone, Service-Disabled Veteran-owned, or Small Business concerns. The contract, with an estimated value between $250,000 and $500,000, will involve a range of maintenance and repair tasks including cleaning and inspection of vent ducts, compressed air receivers, sewage and grey water systems, renewal of water tight doors and cold food service counters, resurfacing flight deck surfaces, and various hull and structural steel plate renewals. The performance period is fifty-seven calendar days, starting around December 6, 2010, with all work performed at the vessel's homeport. The acquisition will be conducted under FAR Part 12 as a fixed-price contract, with award criteria focusing primarily on past performance and price, giving significantly more weight to past performance. While currently expected to be a small business set-aside, the Coast Guard is also considering HUBZone and Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned small business set-asides, which have specific requirements for personnel costs. Interested firms must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration and submit detailed proposals by August 12, 2010, including statements of intent, relevant experience, and past performance references. The final decision on set-aside status will be posted on the federal contracting website, and questions can be directed to the designated contract specialists.
