Vegetation Management at Helen Putnam Regional Park

Sonoma County Regional Parks is seeking vegetation management services for the 216-acre Helen Putnam Regional Park in Petaluma, California. The primary objective of the project is to maintain healthy oak woodlands and grasslands while reducing fire hazards within the wildland-urban interface. The scope of work includes targeted grazing, manual fuel reduction through selective limbing and thinning of woody material, and the implementation of prescribed fire via pile and broadcast burning. These burns will be executed using hand ignition and standard methods during appropriate weather conditions and must strictly comply with an approved smoke management plan. The project is designated as a forecast under NAICS code 561730 and is exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act under the categorical exemption for minor alterations to land. To ensure environmental protection, the contractor must conduct surveys to avoid sensitive nesting areas if work occurs during bird nesting season and limit ground disturbance to protect cultural resources and special status species.
