Z -- Demonstration and Comment on Electronic Plan Sheets

Western Federal Lands Division of the Department of Transportation is preparing to implement the issuance of Plan sheets in an electronic format for future contract solicitations. To ensure the new distribution method is accessible and user-friendly, they are seeking feedback from users on their ability to access and effectively use these electronic plan sheets. Users should be aware that dial-up internet connections greatly limit the viewing capabilities, thus it is recommended to access the plans through facilities with faster internet, such as plan centers or libraries with DSL, cable modem, or satellite service. Additionally, the system currently requires Internet Explorer to view the sheets and allows printing one page at a time, although future software updates are expected to enable multiple sheet printing. The electronic plan sheets come with interactive features such as measuring tools and zoom functions, accessible by right-clicking on the images, with a prompt to load a driver for the reader. A feedback survey is provided on the site to collect user input regarding internet access methods and the overall process in order to improve accessibility.
