Commercial and Government Entity Code Maintenance
Contractors must maintain and promptly update their CAGE code information for all contract locations, ensuring accuracy in government records and timely notification of any changes to the contracting officer.
Overview
FAR 52.204-18 requires contractors to maintain accurate Commercial and Government Entity (CAGE) codes throughout the life of a contract. The clause defines CAGE and NATO CAGE (NCAGE) codes and outlines the procedures for updating or changing these codes, depending on the contractor’s location and registration status in the System for Award Management (SAM). Contractors must promptly communicate any changes to their CAGE code to the contracting officer, especially after novation or name changes, and ensure subcontractors also maintain their CAGE codes if security requirements apply. The regulation provides specific instructions for both domestic and international contractors, including where and how to submit change requests, and references additional guidance resources.
