2017 Storm Damage DWR Rehabilitation - Phase 4 and 5 Repair Sites

The California Department of Water Resources is executing a series of levee repair and rehabilitation projects under the 2017 Storm Damage DWR Rehabilitation program, specifically focusing on Phases 4, 5, and 6. These projects are governed by Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreements executed by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife pursuant to Fish and Game Code section 1602. The scope of work encompasses multiple sites, including Site 55 on the west bank of the San Joaquin River in San Joaquin County, Site 97 along the Sacramento River in Yolo County, and Sites 90 and 91. Work at Site 90 involves in-water activities on Steamboat Slough, while Site 91 is located on the landside of an agricultural canal. The technical execution of these repairs involves a four-stage process consisting of mobilization, site preparation, construction sequencing, and demobilization. Specific activities include vegetation clearing, excavation of disturbed soils, bank recontouring for stability, and the installation of geotextile fabric and rockfill. Restoration efforts involve applying soil layers, hydroseeding with native mixes, and installing instream woody material and willow pole cuttings. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has issued Notices of Determination for these sites, concluding that the projects will not have a significant environmental effect within its jurisdiction, provided that adopted mitigation measures and monitoring plans are followed.
