AI Contract Overview
The Design and Operations Plans for MNR Waste Disposal Sites in Ontario must be developed and executed in full compliance with applicable environmental regulations, primarily Ontario Regulation 347 governing general waste management under the Environmental Protection Act, as amended April 1, 2024. Where specifically required by a site’s Environmental Compliance Approval or other legal provisions, Regulation 232/98 on Landfill Sites and the MECP’s January 2012 Landfill Standards Guide will apply, ensuring all activities meet stringent regulatory benchmarks for waste containment, environmental protection, and site integrity. These plans are not limited to operational phases but must cover the entire lifecycle of each site, integrating long-term sustainability into infrastructure design, maintenance, and closure strategies to prevent future liabilities and ensure continued environmental safety. The solicitation, issued by the Government of Ontario’s Natural Resources department under tender number tender_22044, mandates comprehensive planning that anticipates future operational challenges and environmental impacts, with the goal of minimizing long-term costs and preserving site functionality. The plans must be submitted by August 17, 2026, to the designated point of contact, Faye Collins, and are intended for implementation across waste disposal sites throughout Ontario. All proposals are expected to reflect adherence to provincial environmental law, including any additional statutory obligations, and must prioritize durable, forward-looking solutions that align with regulatory expectations and public environmental interests.
