AI Contract Overview
The contract involves the resurfacing of approximately 13 kilometers of McConnell Lake Road, beginning at Highway 63, with the application of additional Granular A material, grading, and compaction to improve road integrity and safety. A key component of the work is the targeted removal and disposal of exposed bedrock that protrudes above or near the finished road surface, posing a hazard to vehicles, with specific sections also requiring bedrock excavation to enable the construction of drainage ditches. All work must conform to Schedule 1 – Work Requirements and relevant OPSS and OPSD standards, ensuring the road remains safe and functional for both public and commercial use. Additional gravel placement and grading may be necessary beyond the 13-kilometer stretch if conditions require it, and such expansions will be addressed under the same contractual terms. Unit rates for all services are fixed for the full duration of the contract, providing stability in cost expectations. Substantial completion of the core work is mandated by October 30, 2026, with full project completion required no later than November 27, 2026.
