The project consists of fuels reduction activities on approximately 683 acres of private and public lands in areas identified as high priority for treatment to reduce wildfire risk and protect critical facilities, infrastructure and natural and cultural resources. Treatments may include a combination of hand and mechanical thinning of brush, small trees and fallen dead trees, and limbing and pruning larger trees to reduce tree density while retaining canopy coverage. Biomass would be masticated or chipped. No commercial harvesting, pile burning, prescribed fire or herbicide application would occur as part of the project. Treatments will be based on vegetation characteristics, proximity to residences and infrastructure, slope and the presence of sensitive resources.
