The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) proposes to negotiate on a sole source basis a contract under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1) with Coherent Laser Group, 1251 S. Gaylord Street, Denver CO 80210 for a continuous wave, high power (>+6W), single-frequency, narrow linewidth, 532 nm wavelength laser. The applications for this laser are (1) pumping a femtosecond mode-locked Ti:Sapphire laser and (2) performing Raman spectroscopy. Efficient pumping of the Ti:Sapphire laser requires that the pump laser beam has a TEM00 output mode with M2<1.1. In order to achieve stable mode locking from the femtosecond mode-locked Ti:Sapphire laser, the 532 nm pump laser must have low noise. The requirements for this are a power stability of better than 1% and overall noise of less than 0.05% measured over a frequency range of 10 Hz- 1 GHz. Spectroscopy applications require single-frequency (i.e. single-longitudinal-mode) operation.***This procurement is being conducted per FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures (Under $100,000). This synopsis is issued for information purposes only. No competitive solicitation is planned. Questions should be submitted in writing to the contracting officer either by fax or email.
