The Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care System James A. Haley in Tampa, Florida plans to award a sole source contract to Toshiba America Medical Systems for the procurement of parts specifically for the Toshiba 64-Slice CT Scanner. The parts include an X-ray tube and a high tension cable necessary for repairing the existing Toshiba CT Scan System. These components are classified as medical devices and must adhere to stringent specifications to ensure compatibility and safe operation with Toshiba-manufactured peripheral devices. Since these parts are factory-loaded, configured, and tested by Toshiba, sourcing them through other vendors would increase costs as Toshiba would need to test and assemble the equipment, and technical support during the first year would not be provided if purchased elsewhere. This contract, categorized under NAICS code 423450, does not include a solicitation document, and the notice is issued purely for informational purposes to comply with regulations. Interested parties may submit responses by May 31, 2011, but the procurement is intended solely with Toshiba America Medical Systems based on the justification under FAR 6.302-2. The Department of Veterans Affairs will review any responses to decide whether a competitive solicitation could be pursued in the future. The office overseeing this contract is located in Tampa, FL, and communication regarding this matter is directed to [email hidden].
