AI Contract Overview

NASA Langley Research Center seeks to acquire a high resolution photogrammetric shape and motion analysis system camera upgrade to support critical data requirements for wind tunnel test programs. The agency intends to purchase this equipment from VICON Motion Systems, Inc. as a sole source provider, citing the system's unique proprietary specifications and its unmatched ability to provide detailed shape measurement data in real time with the necessary accuracy. This upgrade is essential for maintaining test schedules and avoiding the substantial duplication of time and cost associated with developing an alternative solution. The procurement will be conducted as a commercial item acquisition under FAR Part 12. While the government identified VICON Motion Systems as the only known source, interested organizations were given the opportunity to submit capabilities and qualifications by July 13, 2009, to determine if the procurement should be opened to competition. The final decision to compete the effort remains at the sole discretion of the government.
