Full Description

The purpose of this memorandum is to provide a brand name justification, in accordance with FAR Part 11, to purchase CISCO MDS9000 SAN switches. The USPTO has a large investment in storage, SAN switches and software products, along with a wise knowledge base of integrated storage, SAN switches and software. The CISCO MDS9000 San Switches has been determined to provide this management capability with the most efficient means for mission critical storage infrastructure to be replicated to the USPTO's Boyers data bunker facility. No other vendors' SAN Switch software products can be used due to incompatability. The specific native mode protocols only available by the use of a single vendor's hardware and software, is the key freature of the SAN efficiencies that are required for a successful infrastructure spanning multiple data centers. This is not a solicitation nor will one be issued to other than the holders of USPTO's existing ID/IQ contracts for IT Products.
