The contract serves as a Notice of Intent to purchase maintenance services for Relativity Cobol Mining software licenses and associated hardware embedded within the Unisys ClearPath Enterprise Server mainframe environment. This purchase is contingent upon the availability of FY 2007 funds and does not obligate funds by itself. The maintenance covers critical hardware components that support the mainframe computers located redundantly in Eagan, Minnesota, and Salt Lake City, Utah, which are integral to multiple major government operations and computing tasks managed by the General Services Administration's Federal Acquisition Service (FAS). The mainframe system was procured through a competitive process, with Unisys selected as the preferred vendor under the GSA Schedule 70 Blanket Purchase Agreement. The maintenance contract includes servicing for a range of peripheral equipment items not available on the GSA Schedule but essential for uninterrupted 24x7 mainframe operations. These components include tape libraries, LTO generation drives, fiber interfaces, switches, and various software licenses critical to system capacity and premium support, totaling $66,184. The government highlights that separating these maintenance items from the overall GSA Schedule purchase would pose a risk of operational disruption. Therefore, the cost of these maintenance services will be incorporated into the total order. Interested parties or stakeholders seeking further details or wishing to address concerns are advised to contact the designated contracting officer at the General Services Administration.

This Notice is SUBJECT TO THE AVAILABILITY OF FY 2007 FUNDS pursuant to FAR Clause 52.232-18. This notice does not obligate funds. The Government intends to purchase open market Hardware maintenance services under a GSA Schedule task order for mainframe hosting services: The General Services Administration (GSA) Federal Acquisition Service (FAS) Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) has the responsibility of providing the information technology required to support its business lines. For decades, a key component in the development of these systems has been based the Unisys ClearPath Enterprise Server platform. A redundant pair of these mainframe computers are located in Eagan, MN and Salt Lake City UT. Six of seven OMB-300 ?majors? run on the ClearPath computers, and the majority of all computing FAS undertakes is served by them. In February 2002 a competitive procurement under GSA Schedule 70 (in accordance with FAR 8.4) was awarded to Unisys under the GSA Blanket Purchase Agreement (entitled, ?GSAS) for the purchase and installation of the ClearPath mainframe technology. Unisys was the one of the competitive solutions considered and recommended by the technical evaluation team. It was also considered the reasonable and acceptable solution based on price.
