The United States Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity (USAMRAA) at Fort Detrick, MD plans to award a sole source contract to Gene Codes Corporation for an annual maintenance and support program covering 42 existing licenses of Gene Code Sequencher software owned by the Armed Forces Medical Examiner Services (AFMES). This contract, to be awarded using Simplified Acquisition Procedures, will provide comprehensive maintenance including unlimited email and telephone technical support, free software updates, exchange of hardware keys via USB or Parallel Port, and replacement of lost or damaged software discs and hardware dongles. Gene Codes Corporation is identified as the only authorized U.S. source capable of providing these services due to a lack of third-party agreements domestically. This notice serves to inform potential providers that while no solicitation will ensue, any interested and qualified parties must respond in writing within 15 days of the notice publication to present clear evidence that equivalent services are available and advantageous for the government. Absent such responses by November 28, 2013, the USAMRAA intends to proceed with the sole source award to Gene Codes Corporation. Responses must be sent directly to the designated government contact by the specified deadline to be considered.
