The United States Air Force Academy's 10th Mission Support Group plans to award a sole source, firm fixed price purchase order to Thrillworks Inc, operating as Extreme Engineering, for their patented Auto Belay-in-the-Box TM system. This equipment is unique due to its patented air-over-oil design, providing a fully redundant auto belay system essential for the 98th Flying Training Squadron's Ground Training Facility and its AM-490/491/492 formal training programs. The current auto belay system is the only compatible technology with existing parachute operations at the USAFA, making a switch to alternative equipment impractical and costly due to duplicated training and retesting requirements. The acquisition will be conducted under simplified procurement procedures in accordance with FAR Parts 12 and 13, citing only one responsible source exists per 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(2). Interested suppliers who believe they can meet the requirements without disrupting current operations must submit supporting technical documentation by August 17, 2007. An ombudsman has been appointed to facilitate resolution of any concerns confidentially, although they do not participate in contract decisions. All inquiries should be directed to the Contracting Officer, Kimberly Wood. This action is a notice of intent and not a solicitation for bids or proposals, and only responses received in a timely manner will be considered.

To date, the CSO has issued six distinct Calls focusing on diverse operational needs. These include strategic admissions outreach (Call 001), military exoskeleton technology to enhance warfighter lethality (Call 002), autonomous virtual perimeter monitoring for situational awareness (Call 003), and warfighter training support services for a 47-month cadet continuum (Call 004). More recent efforts include the implementation of AI-powered automated high school and college transcript processing (Call 005) and a comprehensive brand analysis to develop a Strategic Brand Roadmap (Call 006). Due to the handling of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), certain requirements, particularly for AI and IT solutions, restrict participation to U.S. Persons, including U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents.
