AI Contract Overview

The contract outlines the purchase and implementation of the DSS Diasyst Intervention Recommendation Engine for managing Type 2 Diabetes and Hypertension at the VA Pittsburgh Beta Test Site. This includes an annual limited license for the software and patient mobile application, as well as bug fixes, minor release upgrades, and telephone support for one year. The scope covers setup, training, and go-live support during the base year, with the VA Pittsburgh facility providing their own virtual machine builds and hosting on-premises using commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solutions. Although the mobile app is not officially approved for use by the VA, veterans can upload their own health data to the app, which clinicians can then access and view through a web portal, but not on the mobile device itself. Diasyst is a comprehensive, algorithm-driven diabetes management platform designed to facilitate real-time communication between patients and healthcare providers by securely transmitting continuous blood glucose (CBG) data through the mobile app. The integrated web portal, compatible with the VistA system, aggregates clinical data and provides alert mechanisms for care teams including nurses, coordinators, educators, and pharmacists. It also offers guideline-based therapeutic intervention recommendations that update patients' medical records to streamline clinical workflows and enhance patient safety. Overall, the software aims to enhance care accessibility, improve provider-patient connectivity in real-time, and boost the efficiency and safety of diabetes management within the VA system.
