NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD SOLE SOURCE The SAO East/NCO 6 Contracting Office, Hampton, Virginia, intends to award a sole source delivery order to Bimbo Bakeries USA. The Charles George VAMC, Asheville, NC, has a requirement for White and Wheat Bread. Sources Sought (36C24619Q1153) was posted to FBO on 09/13/2019, only one response. Further research indicated that in the last five (5) years, only two (2) companies have fulfilled the requirements for the delivery of bread to the Asheville VAMC. Bimbo Bakeries and Flowers Baking Company (both large businesses). Flowers Baking and its affiliates are unable to service the Asheville area. Bimbo Bakeries have been servicing the Asheville VAMC since 2015. This purchase will be made under Simplified Acquisition Procedures and Other than Full and Open Competition as authorized by FAR 8.405-6(a)(1)(i)(B). The anticipated award date is 01 October 2019. Please note that this is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all interested parties who believe they can meet the requirements are invited to submit in writing complete information describing their ability to provide the product/services listed above. Deadline date for the submittals is 25 September 2019 at 8:00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time. A determination by the government not to compete this requirement based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government.
