Solicitation RFQ-URB-2003-001 is an unrestricted request for quotes issued by the USDA Forest Service, Pacific Southwest region, for research and development services. The contract runs from March 10 to December 31, 2003, with quotes due by March 7, 2003. The project focuses on genetic research involving Douglas-fir and loblolly pine, specifically targeting quantitative trait locus mapping for wood property traits and cold-hardiness. Key objectives include collecting wood and tissue samples, performing data analysis, and developing an association mapping population of 500 clones. The contractor is responsible for several critical deliverables, including a normalized wood chemistry data set, research proposals for cold hardiness and association populations, and a funding model for the Dendrome Database and Genetic Stock Center. Administrative requirements include submitting one-page monthly progress reports from April through September and a final report by October 1, 2003. All technical deliverables are to be submitted to Dr. David Neale at the Institute of Forest Genetics at UC Davis. Quotes must provide a total project price and remain valid for at least 60 days.
