The Naval Air Systems Command plans to award a follow-on Basic Ordering Agreement to McDonnell Douglas Corporation, a Boeing subsidiary, for work related to the HARPOON Shipboard Command and Launch Control System (HSCLCS) and the Encapsulated HARPOON Command and Launch Subsystem (EHCLS). This agreement will cover a variety of services including modifications to the systems, Design Agent responsibilities, repairs, Integrated Logistics Support, engineering services, and training support. Given McDonnell Douglas's role as the original designer, developer, and manufacturer of these systems, they hold exclusive access to the specialized knowledge, data, equipment, and facilities needed to complete the work within the required timeframe. This contract will ensure continued support and enhancement for the HSCLCS and EHCLS platforms, essential components in naval weapon systems. The effort underscores the importance of leveraging the original equipment manufacturer’s technical expertise to maintain and upgrade these systems effectively. The solicitation is managed by the Naval Air Systems Command at Patuxent River, Maryland, and represents a critical component of ongoing naval defense procurement and sustainment activities.
