The Range Commander's Council Telecommunications and Timing Group is initiating a new committee focused on developing interface standards for transmitting IRIG 106 Chapter 4 serial streaming telemetry streams over IP and ATM network infrastructures. This committee aims to leverage existing standards where possible and create application interface definitions to enable interoperability between different vendors. The initiative seeks to promote a non-proprietary transition, ensuring consistent support for serial streaming telemetry across flexible commercial network infrastructure used at test ranges while still allowing vendors the freedom to customize and add proprietary features tailored to their customers' needs. The meeting to discuss this collaborative effort involving government agencies, contractors, and vendors will be held over a day and a half starting Wednesday, August 23, at the Embassy Suites Hotel near Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in Tukwila, Washington. Attendees are invited to participate in shaping the minimum interface definitions, balancing interoperability with bandwidth efficiency and the reservation of proprietary features. Registration is required to attend, and further details can be obtained by contacting the designated point of contact. This effort represents a coordinated approach to standardize telemetry interfaces to enhance compatibility and support evolving network technologies at defense test ranges.

Full Description

The Range Commander's Council (RCC) Telecommunications and Timing Group (TTG) is launching a new committee to develop interface standards for the transmission of IRIG 106 Chapter 4 serial streaming telemetry streams over IP and ATM network infrastructures. The goal of this effort is to use existing standards where feasible and develop the application interface definitions to allow for interoperability between vendors. The goal is not to deprive vendors the ability to customize and add features as required by their customers, rather to ensure a non-proprietary migration and consistent support for serial streaming telemetry over flexible commercial network infrastructure being deployed at the test ranges. All interested vendors are invited to participate in this meeting. This is intended to be a collaborative effort between government, contractors, and the vendor community to identify the minimum interface definitions to allow and ensure interoperability and balance bandwidth overhead against the ability to reserve interface features to allow vendors to provide proprietary value added features to meet unique needs of specific customers. The Range Commanders Council (RCC) 114th Telemetry Group (TG) and the 107th Telecommunications and Timing Group Conferences will be at the Embassy Suites Hotel, Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, 15920 West Valley Highway, Tukwila, WA 98188. You may go to their website (www.embassyseatac.com) for more information. This working group meeting is expected to last about a day and half convening Wednesday, 23 August. Registration is required to attend this conference. For detailed information on this meeting please contact Jim Pilkerton at contact@example.gov.
