Appaloosa 26/27 Timber Sale

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, through the Florida Forest Service, is soliciting sealed bids for the Appaloosa 26/27 Timber Sale, a marked thinning operation on approximately 139 acres of longleaf pine forest within the Blackwater River State Forest in Santa Rosa County, Florida. The sale area is clearly delineated with double dots of orange paint, and only timber marked with blue paint may be harvested; unmarked trees, including hardwoods, are strictly off-limits to prevent damage. Estimated timber volumes include 1,139 tons of pine pulpwood, 353 tons of super pine pulpwood, 523 tons of pine chip-n-saw, 1,070 tons of pine sawtimber, and 267 tons of pine poles. The contract duration is 12 months, and strict adherence to Best Management Practices is mandatory due to the presence of nearby or included wetlands to protect water quality and ecosystem integrity. The sale is part of a SFI Certified Forest managed under certification #BVC-SFIFM-700005, ensuring sustainable forestry standards.
