Archaeological Consulting Services

The District of Squamish is seeking professional archaeological consulting services for the Pemberton-Laurelwood Bridge Project, which involves constructing a multi-modal bridge across the Mamquam Blind Channel. The primary objective is to conduct Archaeological Impact Assessments and develop Chance Find Management Protocols to ensure compliance with the Heritage Conservation Act and provincial regulatory requirements. The scope of work includes managing permit applications with the BC Archaeology Branch and First Nations, conducting field investigations with an assumed excavation depth of two meters, and maintaining ongoing consultation with the Skwxwú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation). Key deliverables include project schedules, work plans, draft and final AIA reports, and spatial data. Proponents must be professional members of the British Columbia Association of Professional Archeologists and provide a valid District of Squamish Business Licence, a WorkSafe BC Clearance Letter, and commercial general liability insurance of at least five million dollars per occurrence. Proposals are due by September 22, 2026, and will be evaluated based on a combination of rated technical criteria and pricing. The successful candidate will be selected based on a total score ranking and invited to enter direct contract negotiations. The contract requires the supplier to indemnify the District and adhere to strict confidentiality and intellectual property standards.
