Additional Q&A 9/4/2014: 1. Is there already an incumbent for this request or USV provider that is currently supporting this mission? No 2. Is there funding already established for this work? Is this requirement being funded by FY14 expiring funds? This is a funded, 2014 requirement 3. Is there future work associated with this requirement beyond the initial build? Unknown 4. What are the brand, part name, part number, weight and dimensions of the instruments (e.g. hydrophones, sonar, cameras, PIFSC furnished equipment, etc) to be mounted on the USV? -The requirements for voltage, serial, ethernet, etc are outlined on the statement of need. -or weight considerations, the government furnished gear will not exceed 40 pounds 5. Can the government provide a justification for the gas powered requirement for the engines? -Gas powered engines are a firm requirement for this vehicle. Our technical team assessed that gas power would be a best fit due to shipping considerations, refueling vs recharging, weight, and our internal expertise, etc. While we appreciate the technical experties of those who may quote on the requirement we will not entertain discussion on changing this requirement. We will also not provide further justification on the need for a gas powered engine.
