B--whole-rock geochemical analysis

The U.S. Geological Survey is conducting market research through a sources-sought announcement to identify qualified businesses capable of performing whole-rock geochemical analysis on approximately 75 rock samples, with potential for additional analyses at government expense. The work requires sample preparation including crushing to at least 75% passing 2 mm and pulverizing to at least 85% passing 75 micrometers, followed by chemical analysis using fusion/XRF for major elements, acid digest/ICP-MS for trace metals, and Leco analysis for volatiles, with strict detection limits such as fluorine no higher than 100 ppm and lithium at least 10,000 ppm. All data generated, including analytical results in CSV or spreadsheet format and accompanying QA/QC records and Certificates of Analysis, are considered government property, and contractors must return all leftover sample material to USGS upon completion. The contract requires 100% compliance with specifications, with nonconforming work to be reworked at the contractor’s no-cost. A designated Technical Liaison will inspect all samples to ensure adherence to standards, and no security clearances are needed for personnel. The North American Industry Classification System code is 541380 with a size standard of $19 million in annual receipts. Responses must be submitted as a brochure via email to tracy_huot@ios.doi.gov no later than July 24, 2026 at 1700 PD; hardcopy or SAM.gov submissions are not accepted. No formal contract clauses from FAR Part 52, evaluation factors, pricing details, or award commitments are included, as this is a pre-solicitation market research tool solely for planning purposes. The period of performance, if awarded, would run from the date of award through July 31, 2027, with performance to occur at the contractor’s facility.
