Schoharie County is seeking to acquire an XGS-PON Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) system designed to deliver high-speed internet services to unserved areas within the county. The contract aims to support the deployment of a reliable and efficient broadband infrastructure that can meet the specified subscriber capacity and interconnectivity requirements, which will be further detailed in the final design and separate transport contract. The procurement emphasizes flexibility, allowing for proposal alternatives to accommodate the interconnectivity dependencies between the FTTH system and the transport network. The project has an 18-month contract duration, with a submission deadline of July 3, 2025, and questions regarding the solicitation are due by June 13, 2025, with responses provided by June 18, 2025. The contract is managed by the Schoharie County Rural Preservation Corporation and is part of a broader effort to expand broadband access in New York. The solicitation does not include set-aside goals for MWBE, service-disabled veteran-owned, or disadvantaged-owned businesses, indicating open participation. The project budget is estimated between five and fifteen million dollars, reflecting a significant investment in broadband infrastructure. The primary point of contact for this procurement is Matt Baker, the Project Manager at Farr Technologies. This initiative represents a critical step toward improving internet connectivity in underserved areas of Schoharie County, supporting economic development and digital inclusion efforts.
