The County of Schoharie is seeking to procure a state-of-the-art Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) Transport System designed to enhance its telecommunications infrastructure. The system must support both traditional and advanced communication services, with an initial capacity of one 100G wavelength that can be expanded to support up to 40 wavelengths in the future. It will be deployed across eight central offices or huts, organized into three rings, with each ring terminating at the MIDTEL central office in Middleburgh, NY. The system's primary function is to multiplex multiple 10G services onto a single 100G wavelength, facilitating efficient transmission between huts and enabling connectivity for fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) access systems. The infrastructure must incorporate resilient power supplies and line cards dedicated to each traffic direction to ensure high availability and stability, especially in the event of component failures. The contract, valued between five and ten million dollars, is set for a 17-month term with a deadline for responses on July 3, 2025. Questions regarding the solicitation are due by June 13, 2025, with responses provided by June 18, 2025. The procurement is not set aside for service-disabled veteran-owned, MWBE, or disadvantaged-owned businesses, reflecting a 0% participation goal in these categories. The project aims to bolster broadband connectivity within Schoharie County, with no prior awards of similar contracts within the past five years. The primary point of contact for this project is Bryan Rearick, a partner at Farr Technologies, who can be reached via email for further inquiries.
