CDCR California Correctional Institution (CCI) Main Landfill Stabilization

The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) is implementing the California Correctional Institution (CCI) Main Landfill Stabilization project located at 24900 Highway 202, Tehachapi, California. This project was initiated following a May 2022 inspection by Kern County which identified insufficient cover material over landfill waste. The primary objective is to repair three disposal areas to ensure cover material meets State regulatory requirements and to correct deficient drainage and erosion controls that pose a threat to groundwater. The scope of work includes performing maintenance activities and minor grading to improve overall drainage and erosion control. The project is categorized under NAICS code 237990 and is managed by the Facility Planning, Construction and Management office. A reconnaissance-level field survey conducted on June 29, 2022, confirmed that no sensitive environmental resources were present. Consequently, the project is categorically exempt under CEQA Class 1 for existing facilities, as it involves negligible expansion and is not located in an environmentally sensitive area. Peter J.
