The City of Calgary (The City) is seeking a qualified Indigenous Relations Consultant to support Indigenous relations communications, engagement and/or consultation, and related risk management and opportunity identification activities for the Prairie Economic Gateway (Gateway). This work is intended to support The City’s commitment to Truth and Reconciliation and to advance respectful, informed, and culturally appropriate relationships with Indigenous peoples and communities in relation to the Gateway. The Consultant will work collaboratively with representatives from The City and Rocky View County (The Parties) to support Indigenous engagement activities. This project anticipates the following phases: Phase 1: Indigenous Relations Risk and Opportunity Assessment Phase 2: Indigenous Communication Strategy Development Phase 3: Indigenous Engagement and/or Consultation Plan Development and Implementation; and Phase 4: Final Summary Report and Documentation. Phase 5 (Optional): Ongoing Advisory Support. It is The City’s expectation that the Consultant’s will complete work related to Phases one (1) through four (4) within twelve (12) months of contract award. Unless otherwise stated in the Agreement Letter, the initial award under this RFP will be for Phases one (1) through four (4) only. After completion of Phases one (1) through four (4), Phase 5 may be added as an optional phase, subject to the mutual agreement of the Parties, if considered necessary and in the best interest of the Parties.
