Clearwell Replacement Project

The project involves replacing the aging 10 million gallon floating cover, liner, overflow structure, and associated appurtenances at the Lester J. Berglund Water Treatment Plant in Poway, California. To ensure continuous water service during construction, a temporary bypass system will be established using two 1.4 million gallon above ground storage tanks located at the Lake Poway Recreation Area softball field, an above ground pump station at the treatment plant, and connecting pipelines. Once the clearwell is decommissioned, it will be replaced with two new 4 million gallon prestressed concrete tanks. Alongside this, a permanent underground bypass pipeline will be constructed between the treatment plant and the Lake Poway Road Transmission Main to provide long-term operational flexibility. All temporary infrastructure will be fully dismantled and removed upon project completion to restore the site to its original condition.
