Full Description

The College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) is the professional regulatory body for registered nurses and nurse practitioners in Alberta. Operating under the authority of the Health Professions Act, CRNA’s mandate is to protect the public by ensuring safe, competent, and ethical nursing care. As a non-profit, public-interest organization, CRNA regulates the nursing profession through oversight of registration, practice standards, continuing competence, professional conduct, and other regulatory functions designed to support public confidence in the profession. CRNA is governed by Council and operates within Alberta’s health and regulatory environment. To support its workforce and organizational objectives, CRNA is undertaking a comprehensive Total Compensation Review to assess the competitiveness, equity, consistency, and sustainability of its compensation practices. The review will consider CRNA’s salary structures, pay ranges, step progression, benefits, retirement and savings programs, paid leave, incentives, allowances, and other elements of total rewards. Through this review, CRNA intends to evaluate its compensation practices against relevant market comparators, assess internal alignment across positions, and identify opportunities to strengthen its overall total compensation framework. The review will provide evidence-based recommendations that support transparent and consistent compensation decisions, informed workforce planning, and the effective stewardship of organizational resources. CRNA conducts a total compensation review every three years. The previous review was completed in 2024, and current salary structures and pay bands reflect that review. CRNA’s target market position is the 75th percentile of the comparator market for total compensation.
