Full Description

Switch is the only Uptime Institute Tier IV certified facility located less than 10 miles from the CFE location with a conference facility large enough to hold approximately 130 people (with smaller rooms capable of holding different size groups ranging from 20 up to 50 people). Switch's conference facilities provide A/V, projection and streaming capability and have a proven track record of hosting successful live-streamed events. Although there are numerous datacenters in the Las Vegas area, only Switch meets all of the criteria of having a high fault tolerance infrastructure, a large enough conference rooms to potentially use as a back-up event facility, and is within reasonable distance (approximately 7 miles) of the planned CFE location. No other data storage facilities in the Las Vegas area have the required Uptime Tier IV rating and a conference center on premises suitable for hosting a large audience. DARPA/I2O and SPAWAR Pacific conducted a market survey of datacenter capabilities within the Las Vegas area, as well as various military facilities in Nevada and California, to determine what resources existed. Other than Switch, there are no commercially-available alternatives because no other Uptime Institute certified Tier IV Data Centers exists in this geographic area with a conference center on premises suitable for hosting a large audience. There are no military facilities capable of housing the CFE HPC within the immediate area.
