Day Use and Campground - Geotech

The California Department of Parks and Recreation, through its Northern Service Center, is seeking a contractor to perform geotechnical investigations at the George J. Hatfield State Recreation Area in Newman, Merced County. The primary objective of this project is to identify soil conditions to support the planning and completion of improvements and upgrades within the park's Day Use and Campground areas, ultimately enhancing facilities for visitors. This project is classified under NAICS code 541380 and has been granted a categorical exemption under Class 6, Section 15306, as it involves basic data collection and research without significant environmental disturbance. The technical scope of work requires the completion of seven geotechnical borings, ranging from 5 to 7.5 inches in diameter and 5 to 15 feet in depth. These borings must be executed using a truck-mounted drill equipped with solid flight or hollow-stem augers. All borings must be logged according to the Unified Soil Classification System and backfilled with excavated materials upon completion.
