The U.S. Army Medical Command intends to award a sole source, Firm Fixed-Price contract to Lantheus Medical Imaging, Inc. for Definity Ultrasound Contrast Agents essential to optimizing cardiac ultrasound imaging at Brooke Army Medical Center in JBSA Fort Sam Houston, Texas. The contract, to be awarded on or about June 19, 2026, under solicitation number W81K00-26-Q-A998, is justified under FAR § 13.101(b) due to the exclusive licensing and proprietary nature of the product, which uniquely enhances the visualization of cardiac structures and Doppler signals by improving signal refracting between piezoelectric crystals and tissue interfaces. The requirement is classified under NAICS code 325412 for Pharmaceutical Preparation Manufacturing with a small business size standard of 1,300 employees, and Lantheus qualifies as a small business vendor. This is not a competitive solicitation; no proposals, briefings, or inquiries will be considered, and the government’s decision to proceed sole source is final and based solely on its determination that no other source is reasonably available. The contract will be performed at JBSA Fort Sam Houston, Texas, and official communications are directed to the primary point of contact, Patrick Thielemann, with a secondary contact, Rashonda Jones.
