The Idaho Military Division is seeking a one-time exemption from competition for the procurement of food for Idaho Youth Challenge students, with a proposed cost of 20,000 dollars. This request, filed under solicitation number 387, is based on the assertion that competitive bidding is impractical or unreasonable because the specific food needs of the academy are not covered by existing state contracts. The agency aims to secure these supplies to support the Youth Challenge Academy while working toward a long-term procurement solution to avoid future exemption requests. The Department of Administration is offering suppliers the opportunity to provide information that may support or contradict the claim that competition would be disadvantageous to the state. This process is intended to ensure transparency before the DOP Administrator makes a discretionary decision regarding the exemption. Interested parties were required to submit their relevant information via IPRO or email by the response deadline of March 4, 2024.
