AI Contract Overview
The Department of Veterans Affairs, Network Contract Office 22, awarded a sole source emergency bridge contract to 28 TRANS, LLC for Non-Emergent Medical Transportation (NEMT) services at the Phoenix VA Healthcare System. This short-term agreement, valued at 596,046.50 dollars, covers a six-week period from September 20, 2026, to October 31, 2026. The procurement was executed under simplified procedures due to unusual and compelling urgency, specifically to prevent a lapse in mission-critical healthcare services resulting from a GAO protest delay of a long-term competitive solicitation. The scope of work includes providing pre-arranged, scheduled, unscheduled, and will-call door-to-door transportation for beneficiaries traveling to and from medical appointments. Services encompass transports from homes, apartments, and other areas designated by the Patient Travel Office, as well as discharges from inpatient wards and the Emergency Department, and travel to and from contracted nursing homes. This bridge contract ensures regulatory compliance under 38 USC 111A and maintains continuity of care for non-ambulatory veterans until the long-term contract is awarded and implemented.
