This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial services, prepared in accordance with the format in subpart 12.6 of the FAR and as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotes are being requested and a separate written solicitation will not be issued. This solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 2005-87, effective, 7 March 2016. It is anticipated that a competitive price purchase order shall be awarded as a result of this synopsis/solicitation. All responsible sources may submit a quotation, which if timely received, shall be considered by this agency.

Performance Work Statement (PWS) / Statement of Work (SOW)


1. Scope of Work: The Contractor shall provide all personnel, equipment, supplies, facilities, transportation, tools, materials, supervision, and other items and non-personal services necessary to perform the camshaft and rocker arm assembly replacement on the Starboard S60 Engine (S/N: 06R) of USCG vessel RB-M 45767. All work must be performed by MTU-certified technicians using genuine MTU OEM parts. Subcontracting is strictly prohibited.


2. Specific Tasks:


  • A certified S60 MTU engine technician shall provide labor and consumable parts to repair the starboard engine.
  • Remove all interferences to access and replace the S60 camshaft, 1 rocker arm assembly, and #1-cylinder injector.
  • Remove and reinstall the valve cover and gearcase housing cover.
  • Replace the camshaft, the #1 rocker arm assembly, and the #1-cylinder injector.
  • Torque all fasteners and seal the gearcase housing cover according to MTU specifications.
  • Time and tune the engine in accordance with MTU specifications for the USCG S60 engine.
  • Conduct a sea trial to ensure repairs are acceptable to the Station EPO.

3. Deliverables:


  • Service Completion: Successful completion of all repairs and a satisfactory sea trial.
