Engine Top-End Rebuild

U.S. Dredge Goetz Primary Generator Set Top End Overhaul Project: Overhaul the top end on two 3516 Caterpillar engines. Objective: We intend to have a vender supply the parts and labor to overhaul the top end on two 3516 Caterpillar diesel generator engines. Scope of Work: The following components must be removed and replaced by the selected vender on two 3516 Caterpillar diesel generator sets. Engine Cylinder Heads Cylinder Head Bolts Turbochargers Cartridges Jacket & Sea Water Pumps Unit Injectors Fuel Transfer Pump Fuel Priming Pump Oil Cooler Core Oil Suction Screen Cooling Thermostat Regulators Hoses & Breathers The entire seals & gaskets to complete both engines After-cooler cores will be cleaned and resealed Two Engine Display Screens (Cat P/N 259-2170) Also included within this scope of work is the inspection of other crucial engine parts. These inspections include but not limited to the cylinder block, cylinder liner, and cylinder liner sealing surface, vibration dampener, cam followers, and engine wiring harness, exhaust manifolds & bellows, oil pump, rocker arms assemblies, spacer plates, pre-lube pump and demonstrating that the automatic emergency shutdown systems are in proper working order. Upon completion of the mechanical portion of the overhaul, a software update to the ECM shall be preformed. This software update is mandated by the EPA to ensure the engines are compliant with current emissions levels for the engines. The software shall be compliant with the Caterpillar engines and associated equipment and systems. Currently the engine ECM's have Caterpillar brand software installed. If the alternate software is offered by the vendor, sufficient information shall be submitted to document the applicability and compatibility of the proposed software. The top end overhaul on both engines must be completed and tested prior to March 2, 2012. The vender will be responsible for all their own tools and equipment. The components must be genuine Caterpillar direct replacement parts and/or reconditioned Caterpillar parts and components. The replacement parts must carry a six - month warranty, with no hour limitation. If any other defect and/or worn items are discovered during the replacement / inspection process the Contracting Officer must be notified. The Contracting Office is the only one who can authorize repairs our side the scope of work.
