AI Contract Overview
The Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base is conducting market research through a Sources Sought and Request for Information (SS/RFI) for the procurement of one Epilog Fusion Ascent 36 CNC CO2 Laser or an equivalent system to support the RQQ laboratory’s power and thermal research mission. This is not a solicitation for bids or quotes, and no contractual obligation arises from responses. The requirement specifies a laser system with a minimum of 80W power, a 24"x36" cut area, and the ability to operate fully offline in an air-gapped environment without internet connectivity. The system must be capable of fabricating components from fiberglass, acrylic, and polycarbonate, producing custom foam inserts for sensitive equipment, and engraving tools for facility CTK programs. It must integrate with industry-standard software such as Adobe Illustrator, LightBurn, or CorelDRAW and be sourced exclusively from a fully American-owned and operated company to ensure domestic supply chain security and prevent foreign part obsolescence. The equipment must support de-rating to Class I or Class II laser safety standards through interlocks, and vendor support services must be available, though response times are not yet defined. Interested parties must submit a capability package via email to Jason Sav at jason.sav@us.af.mil no later than Monday, June 1, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time, with the exact subject line “SS-AFRL-PZLEQ-2026-0019 AFRL/RQQ Epilog Fusion CNC CO2 Laser or Equal.” Submissions must include company name, address, CAGE code, and technical and contractual point of contact details, as well as confirmation of small business status under NAICS code 333517, including any applicable 8(a), HUBZone, SDVOSB, EDWOSB, or WOSB certifications. Respondents are required to provide product brochures or specifications demonstrating compliance with the Minimum Requirements Document dated May 20, 2026, disclose any potential teammates or subcontractors, identify risks or unknowns that could impede fulfillment of requirements, and indicate whether they hold an active GSA schedule for the item, including the contract number and documentation. Only .pdf, .doc, .docx, .xls, or .xlsx attachments are permitted; .zip or .exe files will be filtered out. All submissions become U.S.
