This contract concerns environmental remediation services at the 10th Street Site OU2 in Columbus, Nebraska, targeting an aquifer contaminated with chlorinated volatile organic compounds, primarily tetrachloroethylene (PCE) and trichloroethylene (TCE). Groundwater is approximately 15 feet below the surface, and the goal is to reduce contaminant levels to meet maximum contaminant levels (MCLs): 5 micrograms per liter for PCE and TCE, and 70 micrograms per liter for cis-1,2-dichloroethylene (DCE). The selected remediation method involves in-situ chemical oxidation with quarterly chemical injections at multiple points along the contamination plume until the MCLs are met. The work will comply with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations, including CERCLA, SARA, and the National Contingency Plan. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) anticipates awarding a fixed-price, performance-based contract with options, valued up to $1.5 million if all options are exercised.
