Fairmont Sedimentation Plant Project

The Fairmont Sedimentation Plant Project is a construction initiative led by the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power located in the southwestern portion of Lancaster, California. The project involves infrastructure development within the Myrick Canyon watershed, specifically impacting unnamed ephemeral streams. The scope of work is limited to the construction of a new sedimentation plant, a detention basin, an Arizona crossing, two culverts, a riprap channel, and the paving of primary access roads. Activities are centered along 170th Street West, West Avenue H, and 160th Street West. This project is governed by Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement EPIMS-LAN-64563-R5, executed pursuant to Fish and Game Code section 1602. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife approved the project on July 10, 2026, determining that the activities will not have a significant environmental effect within its jurisdiction. Compliance is required under California Code of Regulations section 15096, subdivision (i), and the project must adhere to a Mitigation Reporting or Monitoring Plan adopted by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.
