Generator Repair and Maintenance

The Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a certified and qualified contractor to provide time and materials repairs, installation, and preventative maintenance services for its generator fleet across the main campus and the Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester county regions. The scope of work includes semi-annual inspections, annual services, and emergency response maintenance, with a specific requirement that all services be performed by Caterpillar factory-certified technicians. Key deliverables include the delivery of diesel engine oil and coolant analysis results one month prior to annual maintenance and the submission of detailed service reports. The contract is structured as a fixed-price agreement for an initial one-year term starting November 13, 2026, with four optional one-year renewals, totaling a maximum potential duration of five years. To be eligible for award, bidders must possess at least five years of documented experience in commercial generator services, including healthcare facility experience, and provide three references from the last three years. Mandatory requirements include being a licensed commercial contractor in South Carolina and maintaining a staff of at least four Caterpillar factory-certified technicians within a three-hour drive of the Charleston campus. Award will be granted to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder based on the total extended price for the five-year term. Contractors must also meet stringent insurance requirements, including Commercial General Liability and Auto Liability of at least 1 million dollars per occurrence, and adhere to strict OEM specifications for all replacement parts.
