Green Paths Project

15-week urban forestry training and job readiness program, 100 fifteen-gallon trees will be planted across the City of Stockton’s rights-of-way, including parks, tree wells, and park strips adjacent to residential areas. The program includes comprehensive classroom instruction covering topics such as tree management, workplace safety, arboriculture, GIS, public health, and air quality monitoring and modeling. Tree planting will follow best practices, with holes no deeper than 20 inches and no wider than twice the root ball. All sites will be utility-checked through 811 (One Call) prior to digging. Holes will primarily be dug by hand, with supplemental use of a two-man auger as needed. Planting may involve sod removal and, occasionally, breaking through buried stumps. Transportation for staff, participants, and equipment will be provided via company vehicles, including one diesel-engine truck.
