Department of Defense (DoD) Presidential Appointees confirmed by the U.S. Senate (PAS) must secure, through a financial guarantee or surety, that their respective retirement benefit plan featuring a defined benefit plan and/or a deferred compensation plan, will continue to make payments if the former private employer becomes bankrupt or financially insolvent. This coverage is required by the Senate Armed Services Committee. The current long time provider, MetLife, is discontinuing this program. The PAS pays the premium for the surety. DoD, Washington Headquarters Services (WHS)/Acquisition & Procurement Office (A&PO) is seeking to identify sources, which have the interest and ability to provide the surety.
