Handheld XRF

The requirement is to acquire a handheld portable X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analyzer to enhance the DLA Product Test Center’s ability to perform quantitative and qualitative chemical analysis of metals, alloys, plating types, and coating thicknesses in a non-destructive manner, with surface preparation only required in select cases. The equipment must be an off-the-shelf product featuring a high-resolution silicone drift detector (SDD), an Ag or Rh anode X-ray tube, a 4-position filter wheel, and a 3mm spot size, with an elemental analysis range from magnesium to uranium. The system must include built-in software standardizations for General Metals, Precious Metals, Coatings, Mining, Electronic Alloys, and Plastics, along with all necessary accessories: two rechargeable batteries, a battery charger, and an 110V AC adapter. The contractor is required to provide NIST Traceable ANSI/NCSL Z540.1 certification with a data certificate upon installation, perform onsite setup including unpacking, component connections, firmware configuration, and power integration, and deliver one full day of onsite training for up to five DLA personnel covering basic operation, routine maintenance, and sample analysis. The purchase includes a two-year warranty covering parts, labor, and travel, and service must be available from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
