HIT Santa Clara

Hankins Information Technology Inc. is proposing to extend its existing FTTP XGS-PON fiber network in Santa Clara County, specifically serving the areas of Gilroy, San Martin, Morgan Hill, and Coyote Valley. The project involves laying 448,573 feet of fiber optic cable, with approximately 90 percent installed underground and the remaining 10 percent placed aerially, all within previously developed or disturbed rights-of-way to minimize environmental and community disruption. The construction will remain small-scale and focused on existing roadways and infrastructure corridors, ensuring limited impact on surrounding landscapes and neighborhoods. The initiative is being coordinated under the oversight of the California Public Utilities Commission, with Andrew Chan, CEQA Analyst for Michael Rosauer, designated as the primary point of contact for inquiries and regulatory coordination. The proposal was posted on August 11, 2025, as part of the commission’s planning and environmental review process.
