Household Hazardous Waste

The County of Haliburton, acting on behalf of the Township of Algonquin Highlands, Municipality of Highlands East, Municipality of Dysart et al, and the Township of Minden Hills, is seeking bids for the collection, transportation, and processing of Household Hazardous Waste (HHW). The selected contractor will be responsible for managing HHW events at multiple locations, including the S.G Nesbitt Arena, Glamorgan Transfer Station, Monmouth Landfill, and Haliburton Landfill. The scope of work includes site setup, material screening, sorting, packaging, weighing, and transporting materials to approved facilities. The contractor assumes the role of material generator upon receipt and must ensure all activities comply with the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act, the Environmental Protection Act of Ontario, and RPRA regulations. The contract will be awarded to the lowest compliant bidder who provides at least three references and demonstrates authorization to operate in Canada and Ontario. Mandatory requirements include providing an Environmental Certificate of Approval and proof of RPRA registration as a hauler. Bidders must maintain insurance coverages of 5 million dollars for Commercial General Liability, Vehicle Liability, and Pollution Liability, and provide a WSIB clearance certificate prior to the award. Tenders must be submitted via the electronic bidding portal by 1:00 p.m. on October 13, 2026, with an anticipated first event date of May 22, 2027. Bids remain irrevocable for 90 days following the submission deadline.
